Job Description
The truth is that we are looking for a competent, responsible and friendly person wiling to learn a craft in a mostly chilled setting. (Fast past sometimes, we won’t lie).
If you wanna waste some time, read the rest which is the usual blah blah blah stuff.
Looking for something smaller scaled and ready to work in a young business that’s passionate and somewhat obsessive about coffee and baked goods that not only look yummy but actually taste great?
Have the people and are willing to acquire the professional skills necessary to uphold and maintain our almost perfect ratings on Yelp, Google and Facebook?

As a barista in our coffee shop your pleasant and happy demeanor is tied with your passion about coffee. Both will combine to provide our customers with a refined and redefined coffee shop experience.
Our baristas will need to :
• Greet all customers with a friendly smile and provide friendly, efficient and personal service to each customer.
• Create a rapport with customers by learning their names and favorite drinks.
• Educate customers on all of our products.
• Work well with others.
• Strive for the highest level of customer satisfaction.
• Accurately process transactions in the POS system.
• Communicate with team members and management to solve problems and improve service.
• Other duties that pop up now and again.
Qualifications
• Be a happy, outgoing people person
• Demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for coffee and coffee related products
• Customer service that is executed in a personal and professional manner
• Understanding of coffee shops and specialty retail
• Desire to educate others about our coffee and brewing methods
• Strong attention to detail, cleanliness and sanitation
• Excitement about the task of ensuring that each customer has a quality experience in our shop.
• Open to criticism and constantly striving to improve
• Ability to multi-task with ease
While not a requirement at first, Currently having a NYC DOH Food Safety Certificate is a huge plus. You will be required to receive one after 6 months, and we would also pay to have you take the test.
Physical Demands
• Stand and walk—must be able to stand for shifts and move about the shop.
• Perform repetitive motion with the hands, wrists and forearms to operate espresso machinery as well as perform other brewing techniques.
• Taste/Smell – ability to detect and perceive smell of coffee
• Talk/hear – frequently communicates with customers
• Carry weight, lift – lift up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
Work environment
• Work is performed at the cafe, and upon occasion at affairs and events.
• The work environment can be busy, demanding and noisy.
As we share a building divided only by a glass wall with a high end children’s clothing store needless to say if your are legally or emotionally unable to be around kids then this is not the job for you.
