Caffe Vita is a Seattle-based Coffee Roasting company with a roasteria cafe on the Lower East Side. We are pioneers of the Farm Direct movement, meticulously sourcing the best coffee available while developing long-term, mutually fruitful relationships with coffee growers in more than 11 countries. About the right candidate:
We are looking for a highly motivated cafe manager to lead a team of world-class baristas. The right candidate is passionate and incredibly knowledgeable about the specialty coffee and is excited to learn even more.
Must have experience training staff on espresso extraction, pouring latte art, and multiple brew methods (pour-over, cold brew, syphon, aeropress, chemex etc)
Additional Skills/Qualifications
• Minimum 2 years in the coffee industry
• Food and beverage management experience
• Advanced knowledge of the specialty coffee and tea markets
• Salesmanship and practical merchandising skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Diplomacy in managing conflict
• Goal-oriented with proven ability to beat project deadlines
• Solution oriented approach to challenges
• Multi-tasking skills
• On-the-job flexibility and dependability
• Ability to interpret and analyze income statements
Responsibilities
• Work with Marketing and General Manager to support brand exposure and sales-driving strategies
• Recruit, hire, train, schedule and manage staff to meet, or exceed expectations of their job descriptions
• Work a minimum number of weekly bar shifts (minimum to be determined with General Manager)
• Achieve sales goals and control costs of sales to meet established budgets
• Maintain a clean café
• Develop and execute on-going preventive maintenance and upkeep schedules
• Maintain fully stocked and faced merchandise shelves
• Ensure high customer satisfaction with service and product
• Follow established protocol for submitting orders to Customer Service
• Maintain full compliance with all accounting, financial reporting and cash deposit procedures
• Track and report payroll
• Review and respond to email on a daily basis
• Provide staff on-going opportunities to learn about Caffe Vita products, services and culture
• Serve as a role model for maintaining a calm environment during high-stress or high-volume periods
• Communicate clear performance objectives to staff
• Maintain and provide performance feedback for staff
