Full-Time Operations Director
Job Description
As one of NYC’s leading specialty coffee providers, Black Fox Coffee is a progressive organization seeking an experienced Operations Director to work alongside ownership as we further our growth in NYC, and seek opportunities to open in other markets. The Operations Director will oversee all operations of our existing retail locations, including project management of new sites. You will lead a team of cafe managers in continuing our goal of providing an exceptional customer experience, serving delicious coffee and food, and maintaining our core values and company culture. You will work directly with ownership and our Coffee Director in running the business. It is a very hands on role with a lot of room to grow, and is an exciting time to join our expanding company as we grow our cafe business and launch our own roasted product. Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
* Cultivate a healthy and engaged work environment led by Black Fox’s core values and purpose.
* Lead monthly manager meetings
* Review weekly manager reports
* Regular 1:1 meetings with managers
* Work with our Coffee Director to ensure the quality of coffee in the cafes
* Manage, delegate and track daily and weekly tasks across multiple sites and cross functional teams
* Hire, train, manage and motivate a variety of staff including baristas, waitstaff and management
* Maintain a positive and inclusive work environment
* Ensure clear and concise goals are set for management in line with overall vision for Black Fox’s business goals
* Oversee scheduling of staff, ensuring labor cost KPIs are met
* Provide Quality Assurance (QA) throughout product offering in collaboration with Coffee Director
* Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to be rolled out across multiple locations
* Negotiate with multiple external vendors to reduce COGs spend and create efficiencies in supply chain
* Monitor ordering of goods to minimize waste
* Strategize with Executive Team on new store locations and openings
* Work with store managers to ensure all retail locations are maintained and are operating in accordance with NY Health Department standards. (It is very important to maintain our A Grade Health Dept. ratings.)
Human Resources
* Review Manager performance
* Assisting Managers with operations requirements and ensure all Managers are provided resources required to successfully operate their retail location
* Recruit and help train Managers for retail locations as required
* Experience with HR systems implementation and HR software a plus
* Hire, train, manage and motivate a variety of staff including baristas, waitstaff and management
Attributes:
* A passion for the specialty coffee/hospitality industry
* Proven track record of multi-site management including taking existing business to scale
* Ability to analyze data including sales and P&L statements in order to track key data points and create consumable reports for senior team
* Project management experience, especially in construction of new stores and procurement of equipment
* Sound knowledge of Square POS system a plus, both front and back-end (software and hardware)
Qualifications
* 5+ years speciality coffee experience required
* 3+ years management experience required
* Experience with Microsoft Excel required
* General computer skills required
