This position is responsible for executing the precise standards and practices of roasted coffee production for Partners Coffee. As a part of a highly effective core team, you will ensure the perfect quality and consistency of all shipped roasted products while operating in a highly efficient and tidy manner.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Production coffee roasting to high standards
• Warehouse workflow, organization, and cleanliness especially in the handling of green and roasted coffee.
• Cupping of production roasts for Quality Control as a panel voice
• Production coffee roasting on Probat P25 & UG-22, as well as sample roasting on PRZ-2 machines
• Executing roast batches on a profile system to tight standards
• Staging green coffee into roast batches based on daily Roast Schedule
• Warehouse organization in a highly tidy, efficient manner
• Green coffee inventory audits
• Cupping, including setup and breakdown, and the diligent logging and synthesis of findings.
• Maintenance and cleaning of all equipment and machinery on a regular schedule
• Collaboration with Greens, Education, Wholesale, and Retail teams on functions requiring coffee knowledge, expertise, and perspective
• Receiving of bulk freight, including green coffee shipments and other materials
• Coverage of other warehouse functions (such as Production, Fulfillment, or Delivery) as required
Qualifications
• Approachable, thoughtful, and positive
• Must be in love with coffee
• Experienced in Production and Sample coffee roasting
• Excellent sensorial skills & intimacy with cupping protocols
• Ability to give and receive constructive feedback in any given situation
• Superior verbal and written communication skills
• Stellar organization, planning, and time management talents
• Familiarity with Excel, the Google Drive suite, and Cropster
• Basic mechanical competency
• Familiarity with practice and communication of core specialty coffee concepts and theory (such as brewing, tasting, diagnosing, history, and industry developments) as well as the equipment and tools involved in same.
Requirements
• Reaching with hands and arms
• Standing up to 8 hours per day
• Walking throughout site
• Lifting up to 50lbs throughout the day
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs
• Hearing and the ability to perceive mechanical sound cues
• Repetitive physical movements of the hands and wrists throughout the day
• Flexible schedule to compliment our production schedule, including weekends
• Demonstrable teamwork and problem-solving abilities
• Class D Drivers and stacker/forklift licenses preferred
