Interlude Coffee & Tea is a minimal cafe in Tribeca serving specialty coffee, matcha, tea, and in-house baked pastries. We place the utmost importance on customer service and consistency in quality. Everything we make, serve, and sell is taken care of with intention and the pursuit of excellence. All team members are expected to be detail oriented and always go above and beyond to ensure that every customer has the best cafe experience possible.
We’re looking to bring on a Lead Barista who is hardworking, trustworthy, detail oriented, and passionate about all things food, beverage, and hospitality. You will be the in-house expert in all aspects of Interlude; such as coffee, tea, matcha, operations, cleanliness, and hospitality.
As lead barista, you will be in charge of training all of our new employees while continuing to work with our current team members. You will ensure everyone is meeting our high standards of quality through a continual reinforcement of our operational procedures. In addition to educating our team on all things coffee and tea, you will mentor and guide them on how to provide stellar hospitality to our guests. You will foster an environment that is passionate about customer service while developing your team to grow and pursue excellence. We believe a clean environment is a crucial component of a good customer experience and you will guide your team to keep cleanliness as a top priority.
On top of your standard barista duties, you will be an instrumental part in the development of training/education guides that we’ll use to train our team. You will lead one-on-one training sessions and group educational classes. You will keep the cafe operating smoothly by performing cleaning and maintenance of our equipment as well as the troubleshooting and handling of minor repairs as needed.
We are specifically looking for an applicant that can take on a full time position and make a long-term commitment to grow within the company. This position requires a flexible schedule and a minimum availability of 5 shifts a week, which can range from opening to closing. Pay starts at $20/hour plus tips.
