Downtone NY is a concept retail space blending specialty coffee, hi-fi audio, and deep listening culture. By day, we’re a destination café and high end audio showroom. By night, we transform into an intimate listening lounge and cultural hub. Our mission is to build a community around music, coffee and good sound.

Role Overview
We’re looking for an experienced, entrepreneurial Coffee Manager to lead daily café operations and help shape the customer experience from the ground up. You’ll be the heartbeat of the daytime vibe, crafting excellent coffee, building a passionate team, and integrating music and culture into every pour. This is a leadership role with long-term growth potential, including an equity option for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of our specialty coffee bar (open 8 AM – 6 PM)
• Hire, train, and manage baristas and support staff
• Maintain quality control over all beverages and service
• Curate the customer experience with attention to vibe, music, and community
• Manage vendor relationships and inventory
• Drive revenue and performance metrics
• Collaborate on coffee programming, community events, and product development
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and labor regulations
• Contribute to the broader vision of the space alongside founders

You Might Be a Fit If You

• Have 2–5 years experience running a small café or coffee program
• Are passionate about both coffee and music culture
• Thrive in creative, collaborative environmentsValue high-touch customer service and cultural storytelling
• Have an entrepreneurial mindset and are excited to help build something from scratch
• Are comfortable balancing daily hustle with long-term planning
• Are interested in a leadership role with equity and real ownership

Bonus Points

• DJ or vinyl head
• Experience with events or cultural programming
• Knowledge of Chinatown/LES creative scene
• Familiarity with hi-fi or audio gear
