Job Description
COFFEE BAR MANAGER – Fishs Eddy
Location: DUMBO, Brooklyn
Reports To: Store Manager & Retail Operations Director
Direct Reports: Baristas
About Fishs Eddy
Fishs Eddy is not just a brand—it’s a way of thinking. We are built on humor, authenticity, and a passion for great design. We create unique, high-quality housewares and tabletop products with a distinct personality that resonates with our customers. Our team is a close-knit group of thinkers, doers, and creatives who embody our core values every day.
Fishs Eddy has been selling millions of mugs for decades… now it’s time we start filling them. We’re launching a cozy, high-energy coffee bar within an iconic Brooklyn store (opening this Fall)—serving a tight menu of expertly crafted coffee and drinks, all with the same wit, warmth, and character that made Fishs Eddy a destination in the first place. We take our coffee seriously—but never ourselves!
About the Role:
We’re looking for a Cafe Manager to help bring our vision to life. This role will lead our new cafe operations from the ground up, blending operational excellence with Fishs Eddy’s unique brand DNA. We have a concept for this 400 square foot space located inside a 3000 square foot store … We need the right person to help us execute it!
The Store Manager must balance operational excellence with creative brand alignment, ensuring that the store delivers on both financial performance and the unmistakable Fishs Eddy experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Cafe Operations & Performance
• Manage day-to-day cafe operations, including scheduling, opening/closing, and coverage.
• Oversee inventory, ordering, receiving, and par levels.
• Ensure the cafe is always ready for NYC Department of Health inspections.
• Monitor cash handling procedures and POS systems.
Team Leadership
• Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing café / barista team.
• Schedule and lead regular team meetings to drive alignment on sales goals, product knowledge, and service standards.
• Provide real-time coaching and feedback; conduct formal performance reviews and growth plans.
Customer Experience
• Uphold Fishs Eddy’s unique approach to customer engagement—witty, warm, informed, and never cookie-cutter.
• Make People Smile is a CORE FOCUS for us … ultimately our goal is to have people leave the store holding one of our bags; but if we cannot achieve that having them smile while in our space is an absolute non-negotiable.
• Handle escalated customer service issues with grace and accountability.
Product & Quality
• Collaborate with our leadership and coffee partners to maintain quality and consistency across all beverages.
• Participate in bar training, tastings, and menu development.
• Champion our product standards while staying playful and inventive.
What You Bring:
• 3+ years of experience in specialty coffee or hospitality.
• 1–2+ years of leadership or management experience.
• Ability to lift 40–50 lbs regularly.
• Comfort working alone, particularly during open or close.
• Punctual, reliable, and calm under pressure.
• Weekend availability required.
Why Fishs Eddy?
We’ve been doing this forever—and we’re just getting started. Our flagship at 19th & Broadway is iconic, and our new Brooklyn location is the next big step. Join a small but mighty team bringing creative retail back to NYC, one dish (and one bottomless coffee) at a time.
Compensation and Benefits:
• Pay: $28/Hour + Pooled Tips (40 Hours / week)
• Pay Frequency: Bi-Weekly
• Additional Benefits:
-Health Insurance after a waiting period (99.99%)
-PTO
-Participation in Incentive Equity Pool (subject to vesting).
