Cadet Coffee is seeking a highly entrepreneurial Café Manager ready for more than just a job. This position calls for someone prepared to lead, build, and grow into ownership.

We are a new multi-roaster in Greenpoint, opening in the next two weeks. We will serve thoughtful single-origin selections from top roasters. Current relationships include SEY, Tim Wendelboe, and Tanat. Our café will have a dedicated street-facing service window along with our own branding and signage on Nassau Ave, giving us strong visibility and identity less than a block from McCarren Park.

At the same time, our brew bar will operate inside an existing neighborhood bar. That means sharing parts of the space and sometimes dealing with a bit of chaos. It isn’t a polished, traditional café setup, but for the right person, that’s part of the opportunity. This is a chance to shape and grow a brand with grit and character from the very beginning. If this shop goes well, we plan to expand quickly and want you to help us get there.

A quick personal note:

My name is Jimmy Collins, the owner of CADET. I’m passionate about coffee and the vision behind this project, but I also have a busy career in another field that keeps me traveling. I already have an experienced barista hired who is helping me put the finishing touches on the space. Once we’re open, I’ll support, guide, and invest in CADET, but I can’t keep regular hours at the café. This is why I’m looking for a manager who treats Cadet like their own, someone who makes decisions and leads without hand-holding.

What you will do:

• Own day-to-day café operations
• Hire, train, and lead the team
• Manage inventory, vendors, and financials
• Maintain quality, curate the menu, and develop recipes
• Work hands-on behind the bar
• Solve problems in a non-traditional setting
• Be the face of Cadet and set a warm, high-standards culture

What we’re looking for:

• Strong specialty coffee and café management background
• Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort with ambiguity
• Confidence making independent decisions
• Resilience and adaptability in imperfect conditions
• Full-time availability, including weekends
• NYC Food Handler’s card

Growth path:

If you’ve dreamed of starting your own café or brand but haven’t had the capital or timing, this could be an ideal opportunity. After a period of proven leadership, you’ll be offered an ownership stake.

Compensation:

• $30+ per hour based on experience, plus tips
• Equity and profit sharing after you’ve proven yourself as a leader
