Parallel Coffee Services, a division of Joe Coffee Company, provides third-party coffee
equipment services, repairs, coffee equipment distribution. Based in Manhattan, we launched in 2023 after evolving from Joe Coffee’s internal tech department.
Our small, dedicated team supports Joe Coffee Company, their wholesale partners, as well as NYC’s top roasters and cafés, delivering exceptional equipment support with professionalism, expertise, and hospitality.
Position Overview
We are seeking Service Technicians who are passionate about coffee, mechanically inclined, and eager to grow their skills.
This role includes a mix of:
● In-field service work
● In-shop repairs
● Customer-facing problem-solving
● Collaborative teamwork via Slack communications, text & phone calls
Our technicians are adaptable, detail-oriented, and capable of handling high-pressure situations with professionalism. The position offers ongoing skill development and opportunities for career growth.
Key Responsibilities
● Perform in-field service calls on brewers, grinders, cold brew machines, and both semi-automatic and super-automatic espresso machines
● Complete repairs, preventative maintenance, installations, decommissions, site visits
and consultations
● Conduct in-shop repairs for more complex jobs
● Receive and process freight deliveries following standard operating procedures
● Provide status updates, repair solutions, and timely communication to internal teams and external partners
● Perform basic equipment software updates & navigate equipment programming menus
Qualifications
Preferred Experience
● 5+ years as a barista or speciality coffee experience (strongly preferred).
● Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
● Hospitality skills, enjoy interacting with a wide variety of clients \
Required Skills & Abilities
● Ability to lift/push/pull 75+ lbs independently,
● Ability to be on your feet for extended durations of time
● Navigating and utilizing public transit to get to and from client sites and the workshop
● Comfort around and ability to use hand tools – supplying your own tools will be required (we will provide a complete list of the tools you will need, these do not all need to be acquired at the start)
● Basic understanding of plumbing and electrical. The ability to use a multimeter is a plus.
● Proficiency in reading and following technical manuals
● Strong initiative; able to work independently and in a team environment
● Comfortable speaking directly with manufacturer tech support on the phone
● Excellent time management, punctuality, accountability and professionalism
● Strong hospitality skills, especially in high-pressure café settings
● Clear written and verbal communication skills
● Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
● Strict adherence to safety practices (electricity, water, heavy loads)
● Spatial and situational awareness in busy customer environments (“mise en place” with tools in a workshop setting and in the field)
● Navigating challenging and tight cafe layouts, accessing difficult to reach areas.
● Flexibility with schedule, able to work a weekend shift as needed with notice.
Compensation & Benefits
● Hourly Rate: $26–$32/hr (based on experience)
● Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week & Part-time 24 hours/week
