About Us
Coffee Project New York is seeking a task-oriented Production Assistant to join our growing team. This role works closely with our Head Roaster and production staff to ensure our coffees are roasted, packed, and dispatched accurately and on time.

Position Overview

The Production Assistant supports daily roasting operations, ensuring coffee is handled and packaged efficiently while maintaining quality and company standards. This is a part-time position with the opportunity to transition into a full-time role based on performance and operational needs. Approximately 20 to 25 hours, must have Thursday, Wednesday and Friday availability.

Compensation

• Hourly Rate: $18–$22 per hour (based on experience and performance)
• Opportunity for growth into a full-time position with expanded responsibilities and roasting

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with roasting operations by weighing, sorting, and preparing green coffee prior to roasting
• Package finished products (bagging, labeling, sealing) accurately for pickup, delivery, and shipping orders
• Maintain cleanliness of production areas and equipment in compliance with food safety standards
• Assist with routine cleaning, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of roasting and packaging equipment
• Conduct production inventory counts and help track stock levels
• Follow all workplace safety guidelines and standard operating procedures
• Serve as a backup or secondary dispatch driver as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain consistency
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn roasting equipment
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to lift and move heavy bags (typically 50–70 lbs)
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-focused environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in coffee roasting or a similar production role
• Familiarity with production tracking systems
• Interest in specialty coffee and quality-focused production

Work Environment

• Production facility/roastery with exposure to heat, noise, and coffee dust
• Requires standing for extended periods and performing repetitive physical tasks
