City Boy Coffee is looking for an experienced, hospitality-driven barista to join one of the coffee bars we operate inside a New York City office.

Hospitality is the most important part of this position.

We care deeply about coffee and expect excellent drink preparation, but we’re especially interested in someone who genuinely enjoys taking care of people: someone who learns names and preferences, notices when someone needs help, keeps the bar welcoming and organized, and understands that a great coffee bar is as much about the experience as the drink.

What You’ll Do

– Prepare consistently excellent espresso and coffee beverages
– Dial in espresso and pull balanced shots on a manual espresso machine
– Steam properly textured microfoam and prepare milk drinks to a high standard
– Provide warm, attentive and professional hospitality
– Get to know the people you serve and help create a welcoming daily coffee ritual– Maintain composure, organization and excellent service during high-volume periods
– Keep the coffee bar clean, organized, stocked and ready for service
– Maintain City Boy Coffee’s standards for drink quality, presentation and service
– Follow all NYC food safety and sanitation requirements
– Work independently while communicating well with our team and the client

You’re comfortable talking with people and enjoy creating genuine connections with regulars. You’re observant, considerate and naturally hospitable. You take pride in the small things: remembering someone’s usual order, keeping a beautiful bar, noticing what needs to be done before someone asks, and making people feel welcome.

We’re looking for someone who is dependable, punctual, self-directed and comfortable representing both City Boy Coffee and our client in a professional office environment. We would like to give this role to someone looking for a long-term position that they can make their own.

You also know how to handle volume without allowing the pace of service to affect the experience. You can work quickly and efficiently while remaining calm, organized and attentive to the people in front of you.

Requirements

– Current NYC Food Protection Certificate / Food Handler’s License required
– Barista experience
– Ability to dial in and prepare balanced espresso on a manual espresso machine
– Ability to steam properly textured microfoam
– Excellent hospitality and customer service skills
– Experience working in a high-volume environment while remaining calm, organized and consistent
– Strong reliability and punctuality
– Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace
– Comfortable working independently and interacting professionally with office employees and guests

Strong Pluses

– Latte art skills
– Experience working with regular customers or in a relationship-driven hospitality environment
– Experience in office, hotel, restaurant or other high-touch hospitality settings
– Conversational Spanish
