Job Description

Avabrew (featuring Oren’s Coffee) is seeking a part-time barista (around 20 hours a week) with specialty coffee experience. Our ideal candidate has a great attitude, experience working in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in hospitality, and loves coffee. Shop is open from 7a-5p M-F and 8a-5p S-S.

This is a temporary, part-time position that could turn into something long term. Some people on staff are going on vacation at the same time from the week of September 21 through the week of October 5. So it would be around 20-25 hours a week for three weeks. After that period, one or two people may be leaving the shop, in which case there will be opportunity for regular hours.

We are a pretty low-stress, tight-knit group here. We’re all proud of the high-quality coffee and food we serve, have great relationships with our regulars, but also have interests outside of working in a coffee shop. Looking for someone with a similarly relaxed but attentive vibe!

Our ideal candidate:

– Experience in high-volume specialty coffee

– Experience dialing in espresso

– Ability to stay on task when working alone or as part of a team

– Attention to detail

– Accurately and consistently prepares all of our beverage offerings

– Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills

– Likes coffee. We roast very high quality coffee

– Must have NYC Food Handlers Certificate or willingness to get one

Compensation:

– From $17.00-$18.00 per hour + $8-$10 per hour from tips

Schedule needs:

– Part time (around 20 hours a week)

– Available to work starting as early as 630AM


Physical Demands:

– Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry heavy objects (up to 40 Lbs)
