About us

Café Chris is a new, independent coffee bar opening this fall inside the Fort Lee Public Library. We’re a small, family-run café serving espresso drinks and brewed coffee made with specialty coffee from local roasters. We also offer pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and Korean-inspired snacks like kimbap and tteokbokki. Our customers are library regulars, parents, and the after-school crowd, and we want the café to feel like a warm, friendly spot in the neighborhood.

What you’ll do

Make espresso and brewed coffee drinks on a La Marzocco Linea Classica
Take orders and handle payments on our POS system
Reheat and serve breakfast items and light snacks
Keep the bar, counter, and equipment clean and stocked
Welcome customers with patience and a smile, in a quieter library setting

What we’re looking for

• Barista experience, including solid espresso and milk-steaming skills
• Friendly, reliable, and comfortable working with the public, including teens and families
• Available for weekday and/or weekend shifts. Café hours are roughly Mon–Thu 9 AM–7 PM, Fri 9 AM–5 PM, Sat 9:30 AM–5 PM, and Sun 10 AM–2 PM
• Must be 18 or older

Requirements before your first shift

• A valid food handler certification (we can help you get one)
• A criminal background check, which the library requires for everyone working in the café
