Temporary Senior Baristas ($100+/hr)

Coffee Bros. – Posted by coffeebros –  New york, NY

Job Description

One-Time Corporate Event | New York City | 90-Minute Tasting (3 – 4 hours in total will be needed for prep, breakdown, etc)

Coffee Bros. is looking for two exceptional specialty coffee baristas to represent our brand at an upcoming corporate coffee tasting event in New York City.

This isn’t a traditional café shift. We’re looking for experienced, outgoing coffee professionals who can make excellent espresso, work efficiently under pressure, and engage with guests about specialty coffee while representing Coffee Bros. and our approach to sourcing, roasting, and sustainability.

The event will host approximately 100 attendees over a 90-minute tasting session, so you’ll need to be equally comfortable talking coffee and moving quickly behind the bar.

The Event

Coffee Bros. will be hosting an interactive specialty coffee tasting experience for employees at a corporate event.

Guests will have an opportunity to taste several Coffee Bros. coffees while learning about the coffees themselves, where they come from, how they’re produced and roasted, and the people behind them.

We’ll also be introducing attendees to the Coffee Bros. story, our approach to sustainability and responsible sourcing, and some of the fundamentals that make specialty coffee different.

The goal is to create an experience that is educational, approachable, engaging, and fun—not simply serve 100 cups of coffee.

What You’ll Be Doing

Working alongside another experienced barista, you’ll help run the Coffee Bros. tasting station from setup through service.

Responsibilities will include:

Dialing in and operating a Decent Espresso Machine

Dialing in and operating a Lelit Bianca

Working efficiently with a shared espresso grinder

Preparing and serving espresso-based tastings throughout the 90-minute session

Maintaining consistency and quality during a high-volume tasting

Keeping the bar organized and clean throughout service

Talking with guests about the coffees being served

Explaining differences in origin, processing, roast profile, and flavor

Discussing espresso preparation and equipment when guests are interested

Sharing the Coffee Bros. story and what differentiates our approach to specialty coffee

Speaking knowledgeably about our sourcing relationships and sustainability efforts

Helping guests participate in coffee-related educational activities and/or a Coffee Bros. coffee quiz

Creating a welcoming environment for everyone from complete coffee beginners to serious coffee enthusiasts

We’ll provide you with information and talking points on the specific coffees being served, Coffee Bros., our sourcing philosophy, producer relationships, and sustainability initiatives before the event.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for two highly experienced specialty coffee baristas.

You should be someone who can pull an excellent shot while simultaneously having a conversation with the person standing across the bar.

Ideally, you have:

Significant specialty coffee barista experience

Strong espresso dialing and extraction skills

Experience operating prosumer or commercial espresso equipment

Familiarity with the Decent Espresso platform and/or Lelit Bianca is highly preferred

Strong understanding of grinders, extraction, dialing in, and espresso preparation

Knowledge of specialty coffee origins, processing methods, roasting, and flavor

Experience working in a high-volume environment

An outgoing and engaging personality

The ability to explain complex coffee concepts in a simple, approachable way

Confidence interacting with corporate guests and representing a premium specialty coffee brand

Genuine enthusiasm for coffee and coffee education

Experience with coffee tastings, competitions, events, education, training, or brand ambassador work is a major plus.

What Matters Most

We’re not simply looking for someone who can make coffee quickly.

We’re looking for people who can create an experience around coffee.

During the event, you might go from dialing in an espresso to explaining natural vs. washed processing, answering a question about where Coffee Bros. sources its coffee, discussing sustainability, or helping someone understand why two coffees can taste completely different.

You should enjoy those conversations.

At the same time, approximately 100 people will move through the tasting in just 90 minutes, so speed, organization, teamwork, and the ability to keep the experience moving will be essential.

About Coffee Bros.

Coffee Bros. is an independent specialty coffee company founded by brothers Dan and Nick.

We believe exceptional coffee begins with exceptional partnerships. Our approach emphasizes quality, transparency, sustainability, and long-term relationships throughout the coffee supply chain.

We work with producers and sourcing partners across some of the world’s most exciting coffee-growing regions and focus on coffees that showcase the incredible diversity of flavor possible within specialty coffee.

For this event, our baristas will become an extension of that story.

You don’t need to memorize the entire Coffee Bros. catalog before arriving—we’ll provide the background, coffees, and key talking points you need—but you should have enough specialty coffee knowledge to understand that information and confidently make it your own when speaking with guests.
