Job Description

Devocion is the only exclusive farm to cup roaster in the world. All of our green beans are sourced from Colombia and arrive from the dry mill to our Roastery located in Brooklyn in an average of 10-30 days.  Our current education program includes extensive training for our wholesale partners and growing retail staff. We are looking for an Educator to help maintain quality control within our wholesale partner network.  This position requires a lot of traveling throughout the city with the ability to periodically travel outside of New York State.

Responsibilities

• Work weekend shifts at Devocion Retail locations (Saturday shifts are a must)
• Leading public cuppings and/or  tastings
• Attending and working events as a Devocion Quality Control Representative.
• Visiting wholesale partners and assessing current quality climate.
• Conduct training sessions and educate baristas on proper bar flow management, drink construction and general coffee knowledge.

Requirements

• At least three or more years working in a specialty coffee/third wave environment; specifically in high-volume service settings.
• Exemplary customer service and public speaking skills.
• Ability to perform in high pressure situations and trouble shoot technical issues
• Some technical background experience in programming brewing equipment, machine operations as well as basic preventative maintenance.
• General background knowledge of coffee from origin to cup.
• Friendly and personable attitude with the ability to communicate effectively.
• Must be able to work at least one weekend day as well as comfortably in working behind the retail bar at any Devocion retail location.
• Ability to travel in and out of New York State to conduct on-site training sessions.
