Joe Coffee was founded in 2003 as a singular specialty coffee house in Manhattan’s West Village with the simple vision of brewing the highest quality coffees and serving them with unsurpassed hospitality and knowledge. In order to bring such thoughtfully curated coffees to our customers, we worked alongside some of the most renowned domestic and international roasteries.
With the July 2013 launch of our own roasting operations in Red Hook, Brooklyn, we now roast 100% of our own single-origin and blended offerings. Joe Coffee is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Manager for our 13th Street location on a full-time basis. Experience working in the coffee / cafe industry is required. Individual must be reliable, mature, and have a “can do” mentality!
The role of the assistant manager is to assist in the day to day operations of the store and will report directly to the manager. Below is a list of general responsibilities. The manager of the store will determine the responsibilities based on the current needs of the store and are subject to change.
Responsibilities:
o Inventory and place orders:
Milk (6 times per week)
Paper goods (3 times per week)
Coffee (2-3 times per week)
Tea (as needed)
o Count and drop off cash deposits (1-2 times per week)
o Write a Salesforce post at least once a month on specific needs of the store
o Staff training (as needed)
o Responds to store issues if manager is unreachable
o Work with the manager on special projects as they arise
o Communicate with the manager and educators on quality control
o Be an exemplary leader/role model in the store
The assistant manager is never in charge of hiring, firing or disciplining employees. If the manager is away, this responsibility falls on HR. Additional compensation will be provided based on the length and nature of the absence of the manager.
When the manager is away – responsibilities may include:
o Communicate with HQ with any issues that may arise
o Attend bi-weekly manager meeting
o Submit bi-weekly labor reports
o Write a weekly Salesforce post
o Upkeep the store appearance and health department compliance
o Identify and communicate directly with HQ with all equipment issues, customer complaints, receipt of fines, etc. as they arise
Handle scheduling emergencies that come up – will be asked to cover a shift if someone on staff calls out for an emergency or is sick.
