Job Description

public records is hiring an all-star barista to join our Cafe Public team. Connecting a vegan restaurant; a live music venue; two club spaces; and a cocktail lounge all under one hi-fi roof, our team works closely together to maintain a high level of excellence and attention to detail at all times of day.

Working under the Daytime Manager, you will be responsible for opening and closing the cafe, maintaining a retail space, running food, and serving excellent coffee to cool people.

This position is part-time, with Tuesday availability required. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shifts will become available as we move into Spring + Summer along with opportunities to fill in shifts during others’ time off.

Cafe Public:

– We work with a top-notch roaster to produce high-quality, fruity, and funky coffees with an emphasis on atypical tasting notes, processing methods, and countries of origin.
– During the day Tuesday-Saturday, The Atrium is open for self-seating, with food + drink available to order from the cafe.
– On Sundays, live music and DJ programming take place either in The Atrium or The Nursery.
– The Cafe holds a small store for independent magazines, curated records, and PR gear.

Preferred Skills:

– Ability to dial in espresso, follow brew parameters, and taste coffee critically.
– Must be fast on your feet, organized, and able to multitask efficiently.
– Comfortability producing skillful latte art with non-dairy milk.
– Ability to walk guests through food and drink menus, including our coffee lineup, food options, and seasonal drinks.
– Warm and friendly customer service is required.
– An interest in music is recommended.
