BOYFRIEND is a coffeehouse and bar that provides a safer space for queer women, trans, and gender nonconforming people and is welcome to all identities. It will be the first queer-run multistakeholder cooperative bar in New York City. BOYFRIEND celebrates racial, sexual, and gender diversity in a comfortable and colorful setting.

BOYFRIEND co-op is looking to hire a few baristas! As a barista, you’ll be responsible for creating and fostering a welcoming environment through excellent customer service, crafting creative and classic coffee drinks, and maintaining the overall ambiance of the space. You will also actively participate in the co-op’s collective decision-making processes, contributing to both the daily operations and long-term goals of the cafe.

Our program will be focused on providing high quality coffee with a welcoming and approachable vibe. We will pour the classics, along with specialty and seasonal coffee drinks and a curated selection of tea. We’re building a coffee program that is sustainably and ethically minded, featuring single origin coffee that focuses on the work of the farmer, and roasted locally by Sey in Brooklyn.

A preference will be given to those with 2+ years of speciality coffee experience, but anyone with at least 1 year of experience in cafe service is welcome to apply. Looking for people who are:
