Still Life is a community-focused art café offering casual art experiences and workshops alongside coffee and more. The space will include a dedicated studio for hands-on art activities for adults and families, as well as a welcoming coffee shop hosting community events.

About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced barista to lead daily coffee service and uphold high standards behind the bar. You’ll work closely with the owners, help train newer team members, and make sure every drink is dialed in.
This role requires weekend availability, and we prefer candidates seeking a full-time position.

Core Responsibilities
– Dial-in & Beverage Quality – Set and adjust espresso and brew recipes each day; lead pre-shift tastings.

– Equipment Care – Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance on espresso machine, grinders; log service issues.

– Inventory & Ordering – Monitor coffee, milk, and bar consumables; alert owners when par levels are low.

– Cleanliness & Food Safety – Design opening/closing checklists, maintain sanitation logs, and uphold NYC DOH standards at all times.

– Customer Service – Provide friendly, knowledgeable hospitality and help create a welcoming atmosphere for regulars and first-timers alike.

– Cash & POS Support – Jump on register or pastry station as needed; follow cash-handling and tip-pool procedures.

What We’re Looking For
– 2+ years barista experience in a specialty or high-volume café.

– NYC Food Protection Certificate already held or willingness to earn it within 30 days of hire (existing certificate is a strong plus).

– Familiarity with manual or semi-automatic espresso machines and grinder calibration.

– Comfort training others and giving constructive feedback.

– Ability to lift 30 lb bags/boxes and stay on your feet for long shifts.

– Reliable weekend availability.

– Starting salary is $17-$18/hr + pooled tips.
