Altar is an established cocktail bar in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. We are excited to announce an upcoming partnership with La Cabra coffee company, expanding our offerings to include daytime café service.

Altar is committed to high quality ingredients and craftmanship – we already have a dedicated following of regulars in our neighborhood. We are excited to bring on an opening team that will help us grow our daytime service. We are looking for experienced baristas who have a knowledge and appreciation for coffee culture and are passionate about building on our existing community. Our aim is to provide consistent products and service and brighten everyone’s day through our positive energy and workflow day in and day out.

Job Responsibilities:
– Ability to dial in coffee, steam milk, and prepare high quality and consistent coffee and tea drinks.
– Able to work efficiently independently and on a team.
– Contribute to a positive team environment by communicating effectively and proactively assisting colleagues when needed.
– Provide a warm and inviting atmosphere, ensuring a positive experience for every guest.
– Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar and dining areas.
– Turn drink and food orders correctly and efficiently.
– Handle transactions accurately and efficiently using our Toast POS system.
– Uphold food safety and sanitation standards at all times.

Requirements:
– Previous experience as a barista or in a similar role preferred.
– Knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and espresso equipment.
– Friendly, outgoing personality with a commitment to outstanding customer service.
– Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure calmly.
– Flexibility to work mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
– NYC Food Handler’s Certificate (or willingness to obtain upon hiring).
– Coffee knowledge is always a plus but not a requirement. We provide coffee training and continuing training to all of our cafe staff.

Hours of operation: 8am-4pm, 7-9 hour shifts. You would be working about 4 shifts per week.
