JAMIERI Kafe is the exciting evolution of JAMIERI Studios, originally a showroom celebrating Georgian culture through home décor designs by local artisans. We’re now expanding to include a full espresso bar and small kitchen, creating a unique space where exceptional coffee meets Georgian hospitality and artisanal design.
Located in the heart of Red Hook’s close-knit community, JAMIERI Kafe offers more than just great coffee—we provide an immersive cultural experience where guests can savor authentic Georgian flavors while discovering beautiful handcrafted pieces from Georgian artisans.
Position Overview
We’re seeking an experienced barista to join our small, passionate team. This role combines traditional barista skills with retail sales. You’ll be instrumental in creating memorable experiences for our guests while sharing the rich heritage of Georgian culture through both our beverages, bites and curated design collection.
Café Operations:
Prepare high-quality espresso beverages and Georgian-inspired menu items
Operate register and handle customer transactions
Maintain clean, organized, and efficient workspace
Perform opening and closing procedures
Ensure food safety and sanitation standards
Collaborate with team members across various stations as needed
Retail Operations:
Learn about and enthusiastically share knowledge of Georgian culture and artisans
Assist customers with design piece selections and purchases
Package and wrap retail items
Create engaging customer experiences that connect café and showroom elements
What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualities & Skills:
Experienced barista with strong coffee preparation skills
Knowledge of specialty coffee and tea preparations
Ability to dial in an espresso machine and grinder
Genuine interest in learning about and sharing Georgian culture
Adaptable team player comfortable working multiple stations
Personable communicator who understands hospitality as an art form
Community-minded individual who thrives in neighborhood café environments
Willingness to complete training at our roastery and on-site
Comfort discussing design pieces and Georgian food offerings with customers
Ability to create connections between café and cultural experiences
Strong attention to detail and multitasking abilities
Certifications & Availability:
Valid NYC Food Handler’s Certificate (required)
Minimum 3-4 shifts per week *Weekends required and some holidays*
Availability for opening/closing shifts
Tuesday through Sunday schedule availability – Store closed on Mondays
Tuesday – Friday: 6:30am – 5:30pm (2 shifts daily)
Saturday: 7:30am – 6:30pm (2 shifts daily)
Sunday: 7:30am – 5:30pm (2 shifts daily)
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods
Lift up to 50 lbs
Comfortable with reaching, bending, and moving equipment/supplies
Compensation & Benefits:
$17/hour plus tips
