POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • The barista is the first point of contact for guests and is expected to create a genuinely warm and welcoming experience to start. This will include good eye contact and explaining the concept and menu to each guest as they approach the POS.
  • The barista is expected to make each drink with care and precision while always remaining positive and friendly to guests as they watch. There is a large open bar to encourage dialogue between staff and guests throughout the drink making process.
  • The barista will also bring orders out to tables, engage with guests about their experience, and keep the space tidy at all times.
  • It’s imperative that baristas maintain a professional and positive attitude at all times while also keeping cool headed during high volume.
  • Ool serves solely cacao drinks and products. There will be no coffee or tea products.
  • 6-8hr shifts to start and weekend availability required. Operating hours are 7:30AM-6PM everyday.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand and perform to the company’s Mission Statement and Core values.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment. Keep all areas clean and organized at all times.
  • Be part of a team. Work together and be attentive to each other’s needs on a daily basis.
  • Treat coworkers and your environment respectfully.
  • Be knowledgeable and confident to explain to guests about products available along with ingredients.
  • Ensure all guests have an enjoyable, positive experience.
  • Build and create all drinks to company standards and never serve anything that does not meet standards.
  • Steam all milk based drinks to company standard temperature and texture which may include basic latte art.
  • Be punctual and attentive to assigned daily responsibilities that are critical to a successful operation
  • Versatility to handle both high-paced fast casual environment and slow food intimate guest interaction.
  • Prep cold brew and other products for service and retail.
  • The space is very much built for optimal guest engagement and education. There will be a lot of talking and explaining while always having a good attitude and being friendly. This is a position suited for people that are naturally social and enjoy the company of people and are patient with guests.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Experience: 1-2 years working in specialty coffee/tea cafes and/or restaurants
  • NYC Food Handlers Card or willingness to obtain one
  • Multilingual a plus!

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Able to stand and walk around the entire cafe for up to 8 hours at a time
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs)
