Position Summary:
The Barista is responsible for delivering exceptional customer experience by preparing high-quality coffee and beverages, making fresh sandwiches and other food items, following safe food-handling practices, maintaining a clean and organized café environment, and contributing to a welcoming, community-focused atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:
– Prepare espresso drinks, brewed coffee, tea, and other beverages in accordance with Ludy Cafe recipes and quality standards
– Prepare sandwiches and other menu items to order, following recipes, portion guidelines, and presentation standards
– Handle, store, label, and date food safely, following proper handwashing, glove use, temperature control, and first-in, first-out rotation practices
– Follow allergen and cross-contact procedures and respond to customer questions about ingredients
– Take orders and process payments accurately at the register
– Maintain clean and sanitized preparation areas, equipment, counters, and dining areas; complete opening and closing checklists
– Restock ingredients and supplies, and notify the manager of low inventory, spoilage, or equipment issues

Requirements:
– 1–2 years of specialty coffee or food service experience preferred; training is available for motivated candidates
– Comfortable preparing sandwiches and other food items in a fast-paced environment; training is available
– Available to work at least 3 days per week, including one weekend shift
– Able to work opening or closing shifts; typical shifts are 7–8 hours
– Detail-oriented, with strong multitasking skills across register operations, beverage preparation, food preparation, and cleaning
– Committed to food safety and cleanliness standards
– Food Handler’s card preferred, or willingness to obtain one after hire
– Strong communication and customer service skills
– Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
