Part-Time Barista – $20/Hour
Job Description
We’re looking for an ambitious, energetic and amazing barista to join our team full or part time to manage a super cute cafe connected to a unisex fashion boutique in North Williamsburg Brooklyn. Take out only, no dine in, no preparing food.
Our ideal candidate has a true passion for the art of specialty coffee, outstanding customer service and engagement with the local community. They are outgoing, mature, punctual, and take great care in attention to detail. If you’re into fashion, its a plus but not a requirement.
We are a small team that works closely and we want to keep a family feel within our little operation.
You will:
* Work directly with the owner/designer of the cafe/brand to plan out the overall success of the cafe, as well provide input on creative and business ideas. Your input will be valued here
* Be a leader. Build, develop, inspire, and retain an incredible team, regularly giving and receiving positive and constructive feedback.
* Ensure every guest at your shop has a wonderfully hospitable experience, and continually find ways to coach your team to go above and beyond in exceeding guest expectations
* Drive strong and ever improving financial performance of your shop, finding ways to expand the reach of your shop and be as efficient as possible in doing it.
* Creatively engage your community, Deepening relationships with regular guests and welcoming first timers!
* Ensure we always meet our high standards of quality and deliciousness for every drink and food item served in our shop, through regular tasting and help from other team members.
* Oversee all ordering including coffee, milk, pastries, inventory, etc. ensuring that we are always able to meet the requests of our guests while never wasting anything
* You are able to balance both the big picture and the minute details in shaping and leading the strategy for your shop and driving excellent day-to-day operations at the same time.
Requirements
* Must have at least 3+years of experience in specialty coffee shop setting. (dialing in espresso, latte art, various methods of brewing)
* Must have at least 2 years of Management experience
* Comfortable working both alone and with others in medium volume/fast paced situations.
* Flexible schedule and weekend availability.
* A passion for hospitality and engaging with others.
* Communicate with confidence and kindness.
* Friendly attitude, strong work ethic, and an eye for cleanliness and organization.
* NYC Food Safety Handlers Certificate or Food Protection Certificate is a BIG plus or you will be expected to get one within the first 2 months.
* Maintain calibration and necessary cleaning of all coffee-related equipment
* Maintain an orderly and clean coffee station, per NYC DoH standards at all times
