At Prospect Perk Cafe, we offer organic, Fair Trade coffee and are comprised of a dynamic staff. We are looking for a talented barista to join our crew. Ours is a cozy shop where we know the names of our customers, and we have the privilege of watching the kids and puppies in our neighborhood grow up. What sets us apart from other cafes is the familiar, yet efficient service. 

We take our espresso seriously, but as practitioners we are always looking for ways to elevate our espresso program. In this case, we are looking for someone with barista experience to bring her or his passion for coffee to our cafe. 

Duties and Expectations:

• You must be a real lover of coffee who wants to increasingly improve your skills and knowledge, and share that passion with others
• Be punctual and presentable for early morning shifts, as our business is driven by a morning rush clientele
• Serve superb espresso in an efficient manner
• Engage customers and provide excellent customer service
• Coffee is a mess-making industry: you must be inclined to tidy and clean constantly
• Take pride in your workmanship and have an inherently strong work ethic
• Familiarity with Equal Exchange coffee a plus

Hours and Compensation:

This posting is for TWO full-time positions. If you have a coffee geek friend also looking for work, please forward this listing. Candidates should be available 4-5 days a week, which includes one weekend day. Compensation based on experience. Hourly wages + cash tips usually average $13/hour.

Requirements:

• At least one year barista experience
• Completion of NYC Food Protection Course and license (or agreement to acquire license upon hiring)
