Job Description
A new coffee shop is being introduced to the Northwest county of Montclair, New Jersey in January 2017. The founder is a Montclair native and identified a need for premium coffee and sweets in the area and tapped his knowledge in the category as well as coffee culture to develop this space. The goal is to serve the residents of Montclair and neighboring communities, providing an inviting and comfortable environment and a highly curated selection of seasonal coffee, tea, and sweets consisting of baked goods and of course — chocolate.
The look and feel of the space was developed with the Montclairian in mind — bright white minimalist space with ample room to spend some time and relax with friends or to join others at our community table. We include tastemaker magazine titles to peruse as well as Wi-Fi and power outlets for those that need to stay connected.
As a shop focused in on true coffee culture — we’re seeking individuals that equally have a passion for the coffee community. Coffee knowledge and best-in-class techniques as well as client service is paramount for this role. You have a passion for what you do and enrich the customer’s experience by sharing your knowledge to determine the customer’s needs. You assist in the daily operations of the cafe, and make the store experience interactive and engaging.
Barista specific requirement(s):
Promotes coffee consumption by educating customers; preparing and serving a variety of coffee drinks, along with baked goods.
Barista Job Duties:
o Prepares and sells coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as, espresso, pour over, caffe latte, and cappuccino.
o Ability to perform latte art and incorporates into each drink requiring milk (almond milk, etc)
o Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs
Requirements/Qualifications:
o Our shop is open daily, which requires a flexible schedule
o You should be capable of using a computer and cash register
Salary is competitive and based on prior experience.
