Part-Time Barista

Job Description

Summary

KAI Gallery/ FitzG Coffee is looking for a dedicated, hardworking, enthusiastic individual to serve as a barista the new cafe located in our art gallery in SoHo. The barista is responsible for serving all products with friendly, individualized attention towards each customer. The barista is also responsible for educating customers about our premium coffees and other products. The barista fulfills any other duties the store manager, assistant manager or shift supervisor assigns and represents FitzG Coffee in a professional manner.

 

Requirements, Qualifications & Physical Demands

  • NYC DOHMH Certificate in Food Protection.
  • Some café experience.
  • Passion for coffee, a curiosity for the art world and a commitment to learning about both.
  • Staff café and special events, as needed.
  • Maintain positive morale, professional attitude and rapport with customers.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear.
  • Frequently required to use hand to finger motions, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms.

 

Service:

  • Commitment to making all orders to drink recipes specifications.
  • Reports all customer complaints to manager.
  • Responds proactively to prevent customer service situations.
  • Accurately rings sales orders into cash register and counts back change to customers in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Answers telephone in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Weighs, grinds and packs coffee per customers’ orders.
  • Sells and serves baked goods and miscellaneous food items to customers.
  • Maintains efficient, friendly service.

 

Environment:

  • Restocks shelves when necessary.
  • Routinely cleans the bar area, floor, windows and grinders, and takes out trash, etc.
  • Assists in the distribution of weekly shipments.
  • Reports potential safety hazards to the manager.
  • Reports all employee accidents to the manager.
  • Informs the manager of any operational inconsistencies.

 

Compensation

  • $13/hour
