Job Description

We are looking for full time baristas and shift leads for our Shop & Roastery in Highland Park, NJ.

Baristas are the foremost representatives of the amazing coffees we source and roast, and the linchpin of creating a wonderful experience centered on coffee. Ideal candidates should take pride in providing an excellent coffee experience to customers every time. They are enthusiastic, have a willingness to learn, and want to share their love of specialty coffee. We are a small company, so you will be wearing many hats including helping with roasting production and participating in QC and palette development cupping. Generally, however, your responsibilities will include:

• Growing a knowledge of specialty coffee;
• Maintaining an upbeat attitude with customers, coworkers, managers, and owners;
• Creating an excellent experience for our customers through a consistently warm and positive attitude and by ensuring standards of excellence in every aspect of drink preparation;
• Register/cash handling;
• Ensuring a clean, safe, and respectful work environment;
• Being dependable and flexible with scheduling;
• Daily and weekly maintaining a Synesso Cyncra, EK43, Malhlkonig Peaks, and Fellow brew equipment (among others);
• Standing on one’s feet for several hours;
• Participating in weekly cuppings and occasional staff meetings, and staying current on all Shop offerings.

Experience is not required, but hourly/salary is commensurate with experienced up to $15/hr+tips. Opportunities for shift lead, assistant management, and culinary. Salaried, 401k, and Health care options are also available for 32+ hours. We support BGA/SCA and other memberships as well as growth opportunities and competitions. Raises are based on goal setting and skills and objectives achieved, so opportunity abounds for those willing to learn quickly.
