La Cabra NYC is looking for a driven candidate to lead our Front of House team at our cafe in East Village, Manhattan. With our expansion into roasting locally in the US, we are looking for someone to lead and maintain the existing cafe with exacting care.

With a roster of quality-focused wholesale clients around the world, a reputation for our quality light-roast coffees, two retail locations locally, and more international retail development underway, La Cabra aims to always serve and deliver the best quality possible, while also growing enough to offer lots of opportunity to our employees. 

La Cabra  is a coffee company based out of Aarhus, Denmark. Our goal with coffee is to present clarity to our guests and partners. Clarity of flavor,  design, and intention. Clarity of terrior, history, and story. We roast lightly, and with great care to show clearly the natural aromas and flavours that arise from the combination of  varietals, coffee processing, and roasting techniques. At our cafes, baristas take pride in serving guests a Nordic coffee experience; one that aims to produce a balance between delicate flavours and dynamic sensory experiences. Key areas of focus in this position will include working closely with the rest of the FOH team to create a uniquely dedicated and warm culture, maintaining staffing and scheduling, leading barista development, assisting in barista training, working with and managing a complex and rotating coffee menu, while managing a team of passionate coffee lovers. The successful candidate will have a positive can-do attitude, strong interpersonal skills, highly structured yet flexible working habits, and the desire to work and grow with a dedicated team.

Responsibilities and tasks:

• Work alongside our FOH team to create a customer-service forward cafe environment that is warm, personable, and inviting to everyone
• Bring La Cabra’s vision to life by working with a complex and rotating menu of single origin coffees for filter, hand-brews, and espresso, maintaining exacting standards 
• Create and maintain schedules, ensuring the cafe is adequately staffed with capable team members
• Maintain inventory through weekly orders and inventory
• Assist the GM in hiring activities
• Ensure New York State DOH health guidelines are followed at all times
• Maintain high levels of cleanliness and organization, adhering to both sanitation/health regulations and company policy
• Create an upbeat and positive coffee shop environment

Qualifications and experience required:

• Experience with light-roast coffee is preferred, but not required
• 2+ years of coffee shop or cafe management experience
• Experience working in cafes, fine dining, or other hospitality environments

Compensation:

• $65,000/year paid by salary

Schedule needs: 

• Full time
• Available to work starting as early as 6AM
• Weekend availability
• Flexibility to meet the varied needs of a dynamic cafe as needed

Physical Demands: 

• Able to stand and walk around the entire cafe and roastery for up to 8 hours at a time
• Ability to move quickly with hands and feet
• Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry heavy objects (up to 50 Lbs).
