SHOP is an Australian-inspired local cafe. Opened in 2014, we can proudly say that over the past 8 years we have perfected the art of pouring flat whites and smashing avocado toast in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We are a small but fast-paced team that can multi-task. As a multi-roaster cafe, we are currently offering coffees from Counter Culture Coffee and Sey, but have had many other guest roasters over the years (Proud Mary, Coffee Supreme, Common Room Roasters, Barrel One to name a few!)

We are looking for a skilled and multi-talented Cook/Server for 30-40 hours a week, who must also be available on Weekends. Our current hours are from 8am – 4pm.

We are a small team and we share a lot of the tasks to run the cafe, so you’ll learn to do a bit of everything, from making our entire menu to order, to serving customers, to beverage preparation. Previous cooking experience in a similar cafe environment is preferred, and serving/barista experience is a plus!

Our menu is fresh & healthy, with creative dishes that look as good as they taste. Our focus is on making amazing food that covers many cultures and flavors to bring together a new and exciting style of eating in Brooklyn. The ideal candidate loves working in a fun, fast-paced, team environment, thrives in a kitchen atmosphere, and is motivated by success, as well as team and individual growth.

Responsibilities:

Receiving deliveries and putting away food stock
Check freshness and quality of ingredients
Follow recipes and plate presentations
Customer service – taking orders, interacting with customers, running food to customers, packaging deliveries
Working with management to create a memorable experience for guests

Qualifications:

Previous experience in culinary arts, customer service, coffee or other related fields
Passion for food and cooking techniques
Strong team qualities and ability to work fast and efficient when working alone under pressure
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
