Part-Time Barista and counter server

Job Description
Petee’s Pie Company is in search of baristas and counter servers for all three locations! We are looking for energetic part time employees with a passion for great pie and excellent coffee to join our team.
Petee’s Pie Company is based on a simple concept: make the best pie money can buy using real ingredients. We make our pies using seasonal local produce and natural fair-trade sweeteners. Our crust is made with organic flour and grass-fed butter from New York State. We make them all from scratch on-site and bake them fresh throughout the day. We serve Parlor Coffee, because the quality and care they put into their coffee matches our dedication to making superb pies.
We expect you to have at least 1 year meaningful and relevant job experience. This position is for a Barista/Counter Server/Expeditor which is a unique position involving serving customers, baking, and food and beverage preparation.
We’re currently hiring at all three locations:
– We are looking for a part time barista and counter server at our 505 Myrtle Ave, Brooklyn location to work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
– We are looking for PT or FT barista/counter servers and bakers at our at Hell’s Kitchen location (600 11th Ave), which is set to open in early November.
– We are looking for part time counter servers to work at our flagship location in the Lower East Side (61 Delancey St), which will begin serving espresso within a couple months.
Requirements:
– Ability to carry 50 lb up stairs
– Knowledge of food safety best practices
– Food handler’s certificate (or ability to obtain one quickly)
– Ability to work efficiently under pressure and to work late nights without losing steam.
– Availability on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights is a must for this position as well as holiday availability.
– Ability to work flexibly as part of a team
– Espresso experience and latte art skills are a plus
– Ability to handle feedback constructively
Responsibilities include:
– Making espresso beverages and batched refreshments.
– Engaging, informing and serving customers at the front counter.
– Baking, slicing, and serving pies.
– Expediting and troubleshooting a high volume of delivery/take-out orders.
– Clear communication with coworkers and management.
– Cleaning tasks such as dishwashing, sanitizing, and mopping.
– Using a POS system (Toast) to handle payment
Hours and pay:
– You will be expected to work weekends and late night availability is critical.
– We have a holiday-based business, so availability on and around holidays is a requirement.
– Compensation $18/hour plus tips (averaging at least $22 per hour, but more during the holidays and busy shifts)
