Loco Cafe is seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and customer-focused Baristas/Café Team Members to join our team. In this role, you will prepare specialty coffee beverages, operate the point-of-sale (POS) system, prepare sandwiches and light food items, and provide outstanding customer service in a fast-paced café environment. We’re looking for individuals who take pride in their work, enjoy working as part of a team, and are passionate about creating a welcoming experience for every guest. Previous café or barista experience is preferred —we’re happy to train the right candidate with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
Responsibilities
Prepare high-quality espresso beverages, coffee, tea, and specialty drinks according to Loco Cafe standards.
Operate POS systems accurately to process sales transactions efficiently.
Greet customers warmly, take orders, and provide excellent customer service to foster a positive atmosphere.
Handle cash register operations, process cash and card payments, and give correct change while maintaining accuracy in cash handling.
Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked coffee bar, kitchen, and dining area throughout each shift adhering to food safety and food handling standards.
Restock supplies as needed, including coffee beans, cups, lids, and other essentials to ensure smooth daily operations.
Follow food safety protocols and proper beverage preparation techniques to deliver high-quality drinks consistently.
Prepare sandwiches and other light food items while following food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Experience
Prior experience in food service or café environments is preferred , training will be provided for the right candidate.
Demonstrated ability in retail sales transactions with basic math skills for cash handling and change calculation.
Familiarity with POS systems training will be available.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and work efficiently under pressure.
Experience preparing espresso beverages and using commercial espresso equipment passion for coffee culture is highly valued.
Food preparation or sandwich-making experience is preferred.
Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks during busy periods while maintaining attention to detail in food safety and cleanliness standards.
NYC Food Protection Certificate is a plus,
