Pop Up Grocer is a new kind of grocery store, for a new generation. On our shelves and inside our boxes, we feature new—often, exclusive—products from the buzziest brands across food, beverage, home, pet and body care.

Since our start in 2019, we have opened 9 pop-up shops in 7 cities, operated co-branded shelves in major retailers, and launched e-commerce, making our selection of products available nationwide. Our design-forward spaces have won the hearts of thousands of visitors, countless publications, and most importantly, the emerging brands that we serve. Now, we embark on our first longstanding location, allowing us to further expand our reach and serve as a reliable destination for the latest and greatest in the world of grocery.

About the Store:
Pop Up Grocer is located in Greenwich Village at 205 Bleecker Street in New York, New York. Our store hours are 8AM – 8PM, daily. Within the shop, we have a cafe with a full coffee program, as well as a selection of baked goods.

About the Job:
Pop Up Grocer Coffee Lead

Reporting to the Store Manager, the Pop Up Grocer Coffee Lead creates a customer-first environment by ensuring quality standards and through modeling Pop Up Grocer’s culture of friendly hospitality. The Coffee Lead is responsible for coordinating training programs of all new baristas and serves as quality assurance for the team. The Coffee Lead is expected to constantly expand upon their coffee knowledge, guide the team through honing their skills and talents, and exemplify the company’s values of care and consistency.

Scope of Work:

Maintain a clean and safe coffee station, monitoring both daily and weekly cleanings.
Train staff on proper cleaning procedures and food safety standards.
Quality control on espresso, drip, matcha, and tea. Monitor brewing schedule and adjust as needed, ensuring all beverages served are both palatable and consistent.
Review milk steaming with each member on the team, individually, to ensure a consistent product.
Daily taste tests of the espresso and drip, to maintain consistency
Train new hires on proper beverage creation
Manage coffee inventory, including paper goods, communicating to management when items need to be ordered or are running low.
Become an expert/familiar with all equipment, especially the espresso machine, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
Liaison between management and staff, regarding any coffee making and maintenance procedures.
Communicate with manufacturer on any issues that are unable to be resolved on site.
Development of new beverage and recipe suggestions
Discuss customer requests with teammates, in an effort to ensure we are offering what our customers are looking for!
