Merriweather Coffee + Kitchen, an independent Australian-owned all-day cafe in the West Village, is looking for a new barista/hospitality specialist! We would love someone who is experienced in specialty coffee and can bring some positive vibes to our corner of West Village. Merriweather is owner-operated and has a happy team in our beloved neighborhood cafe!
Barista Position: We are recruiting a skilled barista who wishes to bring their own passion and enthusiasm for coffee and hospitality to a high-volume fun cafe filled with amazing regular customers. We have a large and highly popular food program, so not only do you need to be handy behind the espresso machine, but we need customer focused hospitality pros who can manage a crowd, get delivery and online orders out the door efficiently and hustle to do whatever is necessary to have a successful day, every day.
You should be able to:
– Have one weekend day availability. For this position, we are looking for a barista with availability Sunday, as well as availability 2 other days of the week. 3 to 4 shifts weekly. Please do not apply if you are not available these days
– Prove your experience in a similar environment, including latte art
– Be very fast, efficient, clean and work very well under continuous pressure
– Enjoy chatting with our hundreds of regulars who treat our staff like family
– Be an assertive team player who can stay on top of all the necessary tasks, such as cleaning tables, doing dishes, restocking and managing orders
The Hourly Rate + Tips = $30-38/hr (a Food Handler’s Certificate gets you bonus points, too).
You will work with a determined, passionate, enthusiastic and professional team with excellent working conditions on the best equipment in the city. Also we offer shift meals and all the coffee you can drink. You are the center of our business, and we will treat you accordingly. You will be empowered to make your own decisions that create the best overall experience for our guests.
