Job Description

The Cafe Lead/Supervisor is responsible for promoting the culture, values and mission of East One Coffee Roasters. The Cafe Lead/Supervisor is expected to continuously exceed customer expectations and ensure that all day to day duties are executed as assigned.
Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
• Hands on role working on bar, leading the team and set daily/monthly goals for the shop and baristas
• Maintain consistent positive attendance, so as to set yourself and your team up for success.

• Ensures opening and closing cleaning and side work duties are assigned and performed.
• Perform daily DOH walkthrough to ensure all areas are clean and presentable for customers.
• Follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines at all times, and immediately inform senior management in the event of a DOH or Fire inspection.
• Ensure all retail shelves, products, signage are fully stocked and presentable (“retail ready”).
• Assign and manage team member breaks daily, in accordance with company policy.
• Create a positive environment by providing clear, specific, timely and respectful coaching and feedback to team members to ensure the operation runs smoothly and efficiently.
• Assist with new team member training by positively reinforcing successful performance and leading by example.
• Practice and promote positive communication between all staff and all areas of the shops.
• Provide feedback to senior management about team member attendance, performance, needs and concerns.
• Delivers an excellent customer experience to all customers by acting with a “customer
comes first” attitude and connecting with each customer to ensure successful interactions.
• Learn and understand what the customer wants and how to best deliver the experience.
• Anticipate and respond to customer needs by constantly evaluating the environment and customers for cues.
• Communicate brand needs in order to maintain high quality brand presentation standards.
• Demonstrate knowledge of core products and processes, and communicate to your team and customers in service to brand building.
• When assigned by senior management, perform product counts daily for ordering purposes and full inventory stock counts monthly, and communicate to senior management any potential issues that may arise.
• When assigned by senior management, place orders according to pars, and adjust as
necessary according to business needs, weather, holidays, etc.

Technical Knowledge:
o At least one-year experience in a team leader, shift supervisor, cafe lead or management role
• Industry standards and guidelines for Food and Beverage, Hospitality, Service, and Coffee (brew methods, extractions and latte art)
o Full availability, being able to work early mornings is a must
o Ability to work on your feet a minimum of 8 hours a day, lift 30lbs and climb stairs
o NYC Food Handler’s Card
o Experience with Square, Door Dash, Uber Eats
• NYC Food Safety Handlers Card is a must (keep on your person at all times while you are working).
• Conversational Spanish is preferred but not necessary
