TOMS retail is excited to be opening a new store in Williamsburg, New York coming this October! What began as a simple idea has evolved into a powerful business model and mission, encouraging others to live for one another.  TOMS will carry a full collection of footwear & eyewear for men, women and kids. This new retail destination is opening in New York City’s borough of Brooklyn and marks the tenth location for TOMS retail in the United States.  This retail location and café will foster a deep connection between TOMS lifestyle, product and storytelling.  It’s a welcoming and active space intended to mirror Williamsburg diversity, celebrate community, and encourage brand engagement for families, young professionals, artists and change-makers, alike.

 

Recruitment will begin in August in preparation for the Grand Opening in October 2018.

Position Summary:

As a Café Manager you are a community leader and a brand ambassador.  Unique and dynamic, you thrive when working in a fast-paced environment.  Being at the forefront of the TOMS One for One movement, you are a storyteller. Through TOMS cafe you create the opportunity to connect with customers and community and allow your team to interact with and tell the TOMS story.

Candidate Profile:

The TOMS café is an important part of the brand experience within our TOMS retail locations. The Café Manager’s role is a vital piece of that experience. As the Café Manager you own the success of the café performance, the customer experience and your barista team. You are innovative and always thinking one step ahead to enhance the TOMS café experience, while utilizing your business acumen to ensure café goals are met by driving sales, conversion, and other key performance indicators. You will work directly with management to set café goals and you are accountable for the overall profitability of the café. You ensure that the café maintains adequate inventory, while providing customers and employees with an exceptional experience.

Position Expectations: 

  • Direct P & L accountability for the café business.  Drives and manages appropriate food cost management.
  • Responsible for people management of barista team, including hiring, scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, counseling, and regular performance reviews, with partnership of Store Manager.
  • Opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and counting down registers and tips.
  • Full knowledge and operation of manual espresso equipment and steaming methods.
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies and federal/state/local laws and ordinances; ensuring health inspections meet all required standards.
  • Ensure all perishable items are ordered with minimal to zero waste by continually evaluating sell through and adjusting accordingly.
  • Responsible for an outstanding customer service experience by ensuring leadership and use of TOMS 5 Pillar selling model.
  • Maximize profitability by exceeding café sales plan, KPI goals and driving café sales targets for team.

 

Qualifications & Experience: 

  • Ability to service and maintain café equipment and/or ensure proper procedures for service are followed within warranty and best practice guidelines.
  • Previous people management of team.
  • Self-motivated, consistent and organized.
  • Confident in working with Microsoft Office and web based POS systems.

 

Education & Experience

  • Prior experience in café start-up is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of prior café management and/or lead barista experience.
  • Experience in working with Café POS systems.
  • Has acquired proper city food handlers permit and is familiar with all food health and safety, laws and regulations.

 

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work nights and weekends with a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull up to 30 pounds.
