Job Description

Swallow Cafe is a specialty coffee shop and restaurant in Cobble Hill currently looking for a manager to start training as soon as possible and take over as manager mid-January. Prospective candidates should have 2+ years of specialty coffee experience and 1+ years of managing a team in a food service setting.

Managerial responsibilities include:
– managing and training a team of baristas
– hiring new baristas when needed
– scheduling
– maintaining inventory of coffee, milks, paper goods, retail products, etc.
– payroll every other week
– counting drawers

Managers are required to work regular shifts, including at least one shift most weekends, and some holiday availability. While working shifts, managers are expected to hold themselves to the same standards to which they hold their fellow baristas. Excellent cleanliness, coffee skills, and customer service are a must since they set an example for the rest of the team. Excellent time management skills are also important, as managers are expected to make their own schedule so that they maintain a regular presence as a barista while also setting aside enough time to fulfill managerial duties.

We are eager to hire a new manager as soon as possible so they can have as much time as they need to learn the ins-and-outs of the cafe, get to know the staff, and learn the specifics of the job before mid-January when they will be taking over completely.

Manager pay is $20+/hour plus (generous) tips, while training pay is $16+/hour plus tips.
