Full-Time Cafe Manager

We are seeking a dedicated cafe manager to join our team. As manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operations of our cafe. Your leadership, organizational skills, and attention to detail will be essential in maintaining a high level of service, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
This is an on the floor, customer facing position working directly with employees. Time will be allocated in the afternoon to attend to organizational tasks.
Responsibilities:
- On-the-Floor: Lead by example by actively participating in shifts, engaging with customers, and providing excellent service.
- Scheduling: Create and manage staff schedules, ensuring appropriate coverage to meet operational needs while considering time-off requests and availability.
- Coverage: Coordinate coverage for shifts, manage shift swaps, and address call-outs to ensure seamless daily operations.
- Inventory Management:
- Daily Inventory: Oversee daily inventory checks for paper products, condiments, milk, and serving supplies.
- Storage organization: Maintain a well-organized storage area to efficiently manage inventory and restocking.
- Ordering and Vendor Management: Place orders for cafe supplies, maintain vendor lists, and ensure timely deliveries to meet cafe demands.
- Leadership: Provide leadership to cafe staff, offering guidance, support, and training to uphold exceptional customer service standards.
- Workflow Management: Efficiently manage workflow during shifts, delegate tasks, and ensure that all responsibilities are executed effectively.
- Shift Tasks: Assign and oversee shift-specific tasks to maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming cafe environment.
- Shift Handoffs: Facilitate smooth shift handoffs, ensuring all necessary information is communicated between staff members.
- Staff Retasking: Adjust staff assignments as needed to respond to changing customer traffic and maintain efficient operations.
- Cleaning Standards: Uphold strict cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the cafe, including workstations, dining areas, and restrooms.
- Department of Health (DOH) Compliance: Ensure that all cafe activities and operations comply with health and safety regulations set by the relevant authorities.
- Cafe Presentation: Ensure the cafe’s overall presentation is appealing, including proper arrangement of seating, decor, and visual displays.
- Sales Growth: Generate & implement new strategies to increase sales across all product categories on a quarterly basis
- Cost management – Effectively manage COGs & labor expenses in tandem with expected revenue
Qualifications:
- Previous supervisory experience in a specialty coffee environment
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge of inventory management and ordering processes.
- Understanding of business operations, COGs, labor allocation, & revenue projections
- Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
- Familiarity with NYC health code regulations and compliance.
- Passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.
- Familiarity with G Suite, Google Sheets, Square, Slack
Compensation
- $55,000 – $60,000
- PTO after 60 days for FT staff
- Up to 40hr sick pay allotted at beginning of every year
