Summary

Newlab is seeking a Cafe Manager to manage cafe operations, catering, and provide event support. The Cafe Manager’s primary responsibility will be day-to-day operations of Infinity Sisters, our in-house cafe, at our flagship location in Brooklyn. This position is ideal for someone with cafe management or hospitality management experience. Generally this position is in-person M-F 8:30a-4:30p. We do have some events outside of those times but they are scheduled in advance.

Responsibilities​

Greeting, engaging, and assisting customers
Point-of-sale system management
Merchandising, including product selection, sourcing, pricing and displaying
Developing and managing vendor relations
Managing inventory: ordering, receiving, labeling and stocking inventory
Management of the Newlab pop-up food and beverage program, including vendor relations
Overseeing quality control and upholding of brand standards
Sourcing for catering for in-house events
Promotion and sales, including assisting with developing marketing material to drive revenue
Assisting with other special projects as needed

Skills

At least 1-2 year of experience in the restaurant, retail, or hotel industry, cafe management or hospitality experience is preferred
Committed to providing high-quality service
Comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving work environment where demands and priorities can change quickly
Values keeping things organized and maintaining high-standards of service
Takes initiative to acquire new skills in order to improve performance
Is excited to learn about developments in technology, science and culture
Is able to demonstrate experience with MS Excel and Google Drive Applications
Experience with Toast or other POS system is preferred
Profit/loss and product performance reporting experience is a plus

Requirements:

Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs
Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
Ability to work events outside of normal business hours (nights and weekends on occasion with advanced notice)
Have valid NYC DOH food handler’s certification

Compensation:

$62,400 per year
15 PTO days per year
