Café Manager. Butler Cafe, a full-line coffee shop with 2 locations in Jersey City, is looking for a top-talent manager to lead our team and expand our offerings. We will be opening a 3rd location in 2024. As manager, you will have full responsibility for all day-to-day operations as well as business growth and development efforts. Impeccable skills at the espresso bar and seasoned management experience are a must. You will have the support of our contract roaster for ongoing employee training and equipment maintenance, but it will be your job to set and maintain the standard of excellence. You must love coffee, be an early riser, a hard worker and team leader.

This is a full-time salaried position, with base compensation of $50,000+ depending on experience, skills and references. Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day operations of 3-location cafe business, including working as lead barista.
Ensure standards of cleanliness are maintained in all locations.
Hire and onboard new wait staff and baristas
Manage barista schedule and be available for fill-in shifts
Train employees on drinks preparation and proper use of coffee equipment. Coordinate with roaster-led training
Manage vendors and order supplies, as needed (cups, coffee, milk and other ingredients)
Perform routine maintenance on cafe equipment, including water filters. Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs with tech service.
Add new menu items based on seasonality and customers’ preferences (for example vegan coffee drinks)

Ensure all cafe areas are clean and tidy
Nurture friendly relationships with customers to increase loyalty and boost our reputation
Maintain updated records of daily, weekly and monthly revenues and expenses

Requirements and skills
Work experience as a Cafe Manager or Barista
Hands-on experience with professional coffee machines
World-class foam art skills and expectations of the same for all baristas
Functional math and financial skills
Availability to work within opening hours (including weekends and holidays)
Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team
Customer service attitude
ServeSafe Manager-level certification is required (can be obtained on the job)
