High Beam Coffee is seeking a thoughtful, quality-focused, hospitality-driven manager to oversee our Red Hook and Carroll Gardens cafes.

About High Beam Coffee:
High Beam coffee is a specialty coffee roastery currently operating cafes in Red Hook and Carroll Gardens. Our goal as a roastery is to source fun, vibrant, and beautiful coffees and saturate them with light. We approach brewing light roast coffees in a progressive way, and we view our cafes as a way to highlight our sourcing and roasting in an approachable, friendly way.

Position Overview:
The Cafe Manager is responsible for High Beam’s two cafes, including but not limited to staffing, scheduling, inventory, general café management, and barista support. This is an exempt, full-time position with a salary of $66,300 per year. The Cafe Manager is expected to work on the floor four days a week, splitting time between High Beam’s Red Hook and Carroll Gardens cafes. One day a week will be designated for admin work–namely scheduling, ordering, payroll, and general housekeeping.

Responsibilities:

• Hiring staff
• Training and mentoring staff on operational standards
• People management, including staff check-ins and disciplinary action if needed
• Scheduling across both cafes
• Inventory management and ordering across both cafes
• Monitoring of COGS and labor, in accordance with direction from founders, across both cafes
• Creating new and maintaining existing SOP’s for cafes to follow in regards to cafe upkeep, operations, and day-to-day tasks
• Ensure cafes remain compliant with DOH regulations at all times
• Prepare and submit payroll data

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in the specialty coffee industry
• 2+ years of experience managing cafes
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent coaching skills
• Hospitality-driven: someone who enjoys creating enjoyable experiences for guests
• A team player: someone who is not afraid to get their hands dirty and direct others to do the same
• An open mind towards coffee
• The ability to maintain composure during stressful situations and quickly adapt to them, offering thoughtful solutions
• Respect for others
