Joe Coffee is looking for a dedicated, hardworking, enthusiastic individual to manage our Chelsea location in NY. This position is great for an individual looking for a challenge managing a busy, fast-paced cafe. The ideal candidate should have experience managing a high volume cafe, a passion for coffee, a positive attitude, and an inviting/hospitable personality.

Joe Coffee was founded in 2003 as a singular specialty coffee house in Manhattan’s West Village with the simple vision of brewing the highest quality, unique coffees and serving them with unsurpassed hospitality and knowledge. In order to bring such thoughtfully curated coffees to our customers, we worked alongside some of the most renowned domestic and international roasteries. We also offer a carefully sourced selection of food and pastry offerings from a variety of local vendors enabling our baristas to be full-fledged ambassadors for the day.

With the July 2013 launch of our own roasting operations in Red Hook, Brooklyn, we now roast 100% of our own single-origin and blended offerings. Whether in the roastery or in one of our now 18 cafes, we strive to affect our deeply rooted core value proposition: the desire to build, maintain and strengthen community at every level from producer to customer.

• Cultivate an exciting coffee environment and be a leader in the industry
• Represent Joe to your staff and customers
• Maintain operating expense and finance goals for the cafe
• Work with a variety of vendors
• Manage cafe inventory
• Supervise, lead and inspire staff on a daily basis
• Interview and hire employees based on cafe needs
• Work with the store’s coffee and espresso educators in order to educate staff on Joe coffee and products
• Administer employee reviews
• Maintain cafe equipment and schedule for regular maintenance
• Conduct staff meetings on a regular basis
• Attend bi-weekly meetings with other cafe managers and HQ staff

• A passion for coffee is a must
• Significant experience managing a cafe (at least 1 year experience)
• Ability to talk intelligently about coffee
• Possess strong espresso/drink making skills
• Ability to multitask in a complex fast-paced environment
• Ability to lead a team and cultivate a positive work environment
• Impeccable attention to detail
• Strong organizational, planning and time management skills
• Solid management and problem solving skills
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Positive attitude with a “no task is too small” outlook
• Ability to take direction and constructive criticism well

• $1,000 per week ($52K annual)
