Position Overview:
At Upstate Stock, the Cashier/Helper plays a pivotal role in creating an outstanding experience for our guests. This position is responsible for accurately processing transactions, delivering exceptional customer service, and maintaining the flow and vibe of our coffee shop. Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
Warmly greet every customer that approaches the counter. Assist customers with menu choices and answer any questions about our products. Handle customer concerns and feedback professionally and ensure their experience is a positive one. Foster a warm, inviting, and community-oriented environment.
Order Processing:
Accurately take customer orders, ensuring clarity and understanding of their requests.
Handle monetary transactions using the Point of Sale (POS) system, ensuring accuracy at all times. Relay orders to baristas promptly.
General Operations:
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cashier counter and front-of-house areas.
Restock merchandise displays, condiments, and other front-of-house items as needed.
Collaborate with team members to ensure a smooth workflow. Assist in other areas of the coffee shop as needed, such as helping with opening and closing tasks.
Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Previous cashier or customer service experience preferred. Basic math skills to handle cash transactions. Ability to operate POS systems. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to multitask and handle high-pressure situations. Passion for coffee and the community. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays. High school diploma or equivalent.
Compensation:
Set hourly wage depending on experience plus an additional compensation from pooled tips.
