Variety Coffee Roasters is a New York specialty coffee company founded in 2008 as a single cafe, and today roasting and serving our coffee at 8 (and counting) of our own shops across the city, as well with over 100 dynamic wholesale partners. The Equipment Tech Manager is responsible for overseeing the care and maintenance of all coffee equipment used to brew our coffee at Variety’s wholesale accounts, including our own 8 cafes. This includes installation, preventative maintenance, emergency troubleshooting and general repair. The Tech Manager is also responsible for devising, refining and maintaining company systems for invoicing, inventory, equipment tracking and scheduling, as well as reporting on this data to their colleagues. They will work as a part of the wholesale team to respond to both planned and emergency tech needs as part of Variety’s commitment to excellent customer service. THE TECH MANAGER WILL:
•Work efficiently and with a high level of attention to detail on tech-related projects
•Ensure the consistent and optimal function of all Variety coffee and wholesale partner equipment
•Resolve equipment-related emergencies with urgency
•Oversee preventative maintenance on a consistent, transparent schedule
•Track and organize all account-related information with clarity and accuracy
•Communicate updates regarding equipment clearly with colleagues and customers
•Deliver warm and helpful service to wholesale customers
•Set the coffee tech program on a course to grow with solid systems and SOPs
DUTIES INCLUDE:
Technical support:
• Perform installations, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs for all Variety stores and wholesale accounts.
• Work with spare parts vendors and our accounting team to ensure correct invoicing.
• Maintain a clean and orderly workshop at all times.
Departmental Management:
•Execute preventive maintenance calendars for all equipment under Variety’s care.
•Manage spare parts and tool inventories.
•Effectively track all coffee equipment and share related record keeping
•Train any potential future technicians in Variety’s SOP’s and manage
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 2-5 years of specialty coffee experience
• 1+ experience as a technician or in a related field
• Advanced coffee equipment understanding, including programming and basic troubleshooting `
• Ability to build and cultivate relationships that benefit the brand
• High level of initiative and follow-through
• Experience with G-Suite, as well as Streak or other CRMs
• Ability to work well both independently as well as part of a team
• Comfortable walking to job sites regularly and carrying/transporting tools en route
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly
• Drivers license
• Ability to work occasional weekend or evening hours to accommodate emergency calls
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
•Annual exempt salary of $70,000
•80 hours paid time off per year + 6 paid company holidays
•80 hours fully paid bonding family leave
