Full-Time Director of Business Development

Job Description
About Shared Roasting
Shared Roasting is a New York City based specialty coffee roaster supplying cafés, offices, restaurants, and retail partners with high-quality, freshly roasted coffee. We offer a variety of different services to help coffee companies. We’re growing our wholesale business and looking for someone early in their sales career to grow with us.
The Role
We’re hiring a Director of Business Development to own and grow Shared Roasting’s wholesale business end to end. This is a build-and-lead role: you’ll set the sales strategy, open major new accounts yourself, and put in place the pipeline, pricing, and process that let wholesale scale. You’ll work hand in hand with our roasting, production, and fulfillment teams so that every account we win is one we can deliver for.
If you’ve built a wholesale or B2B coffee book before and want the mandate to run the whole function, this is that role.
What You’ll Do
- Own the strategy. Set and execute the plan for profitable wholesale growth — target segments, pricing, positioning, and revenue goals.
- Win the accounts. Personally lead prospecting and closing for priority accounts across cafés, hospitality, office coffee, grocery, and distribution.
- Lead cross-functionally. Partner with roasting, production, and fulfillment to align capacity, quality, and delivery with what you’re selling.
- Represent Shared Roasting. Be the face of the brand at trade events, cuppings, and with key partners.
Job Requirements
- Professional Experience. 5+ years in B2B sales or business development, with time in specialty coffee, hospitality, or foodservice, and a track record of building a wholesale/B2B book from the ground up.
- Proven Track Record. Demonstrated ability to hit and exceed revenue targets, write proposals, and to open large, strategic accounts.
- Business Acumen. Strong commercial instincts: pricing, negotiating, margin, and deal structure
- Relationship Building. Excellent communicator who can lead a tasting and negotiate a contract with equal confidence.
- Coffee Expertise. Deep coffee knowledge and credibility with café owners, buyers, and operators.
- Entrepreneurial Spirit. Self-directed; comfortable being the senior salesperson in the room.
- Based in the North Brooklyn area and able to travel locally to meet prospects and accounts
- Have an active drivers license and experience driving a passenger vehicle
Physical Requirements
This is a hands-on, physically active role. To perform it, you should be able to:
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs throughout the day
- Climb ladders and stairs
- Reach with your hands and arms
- Stand for up to 8 hours per day
- Hear and distinguish mechanical sound cues from equipment
- Perform repetitive hand and wrist movements throughout the day
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary. $90,000–$110,000, depending on experience.
- Incentives. Commission and performance bonuses tied to wholesale growth, with meaningful upside for exceeding targets.
- Time Off. Paid time off, sick leave, and observed holidays.
- Health insurance available after probation period
