Job Description
DIRECTOR OF COFFEE
This position is responsible for the entire coffee, tea and cold brew product line at Partners Coffee, from conceptualization through menu offerings design, education, brew parameters and quality. You will be the knowledgeable, charismatic, friendly face of Partners Coffee’s product quality as seen by our internal and external partners and within our industry and public at large. You will work closely with the green coffee buyer.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the delivery of the Partners coffee program to meet our high product standards
• With the Director of Ops and Green Coffee Buyer develop all offerings
• Oversee education, training and brew parameters for wholesale and retail
• Work with Sales team to present coffee and craft programs for customer satisfaction
• Work with Marketing to develop content, write copy and manage and activate PR
• Host regular tasting and education events to broaden coffee knowledge and foster growth and development within staff and customers
• Attend events, network in the coffee community and continually develop and foster talent
• Find new ideas and trial new developments always striving for the best example for your team
• Manage all environmental and sustainable practices to ensure best practice
Specific Duties:
• Sets education parameters for all offerings, manages quality internally and externally to the highest standards
• Develops coffee profile and launch materials to educate internal and external audiences, in conjunction with Education and Marketing departments
• Executes research and development on all products
• Grades and cups green and roasted coffee inventory to ensure the finest quality and consistency
• Hosts regular tasting and education events in lab and retail locations to broaden coffee knowledge and foster growth and development within staff
• Works with Green Coffee buyer with blend development and offerings, including quality testing
Qualifications:
• Must be in love with coffee
• Approachable, thoughtful, and positive
• Superior verbal and written communication skills
• Stellar organization, planning, and time management talents
• Familiarity with Excel, and the Google Drive suite
• Demonstrated leadership and problem solving abilities
• Ability to give and receive constructive feedback in any given situation
• Excellent sensorial skills & intimacy with cupping protocols
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally
• At least five years experience in specialty coffee as a roaster, educator and or green coffee buyer
• Certified Q grader and or previous competition experience
• Must have exceptional espresso and brew skills
Physical Requirements
• Reaching with hands and arms
• Standing up to 8 hours per day
• Walking throughout site
• Lifting up to 50lbs throughout the day
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs
• Hearing and the ability to perceive mechanical sound cues
• Repetitive physical movements of the hands and wrists throughout the day
