Full-Time Director of Coffee

Job Description
Director of Coffee
Did you know that most coffee roasters around the world are roasting old coffee, even though it is freshly roasted?
You’ve been drinking months-old coffee, but Devoción is changing that. We source our beans directly from our network of independent coffee producers throughout Colombia, dry-mill them at our facility in Bogotá, and quickly send them to our roaster in New York vía FedEx. A few days later, the beans arrive in Brooklyn, to be freshly roasted and served as quickly as possible, going from origin to cup as fast as 10 days, light years quicker than the industry norm of 6-12 months.
About the Role
Devoción is looking for a Director of Coffee, a multi-faceted role responsible for defining and delivering an exceptional, consistent coffee experience across the entire brand. This role leads the strategy, execution, and evolution of Devoción’s coffee program across retail, wholesale, and e-commerce channels. It combines creative direction, quality control, education, and innovation to ensure the brand remains at the forefront of specialty coffee.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Coffee oversees coffee sourcing, beverage

● Own the coffee portfolio: drink menu and seasonal offerings across all channels

Devoción’s freshness philosophy

concepts, while maintaining a library of recipes, brew guides, and tasting documentation
to keep the menu fresh and relevant.
Quality Control
● Attend weekly cuppings with Director of Roasting to evaluate lots, roast profiles, and
consistency
● Set and enforce QC standards across all retail and wholesale accounts
● Identify quality gaps early and lead corrective action in partnership with the roasting
team

experience
● A clear communicator and natural educator — confident presenter, sharp writer

ecommerce
● Highly organized and able to manage multiple workstreams without losing attention to
quality
● Willing to travel within NYC, domestically, and internationally
● Flexible for weekends and events as needed
● Spanish fluency a strong plus
