Full-Time Education Department Assistant

Job Description
We have a new position open, based in NYC! The Education Department Assistant will perform administrative tasks for department operations, monitor coffee quality across retail locations and wholesale partners, and conduct on-site educational support to our partners. The assistant will report to the Director of Education and requires frequent travel within NYC.
Primary Responsibilities
● Conduct weekly quality control visits to Devoción coffee shops
● Conduct on-site training sessions for Devoción wholesale partners, as needed, and monthly quality control visits
● Provide troubleshooting support to retail locations and wholesale partners, as needed
● Assist with preparations for coffee tastings, events, and recipe development
● Coordinate bar interviews for the retail department, training sessions, and coffee tastings
● Prepare onboarding materials for wholesale clients, such as equipment brew guides and recipes
● Update and organize education resource folders, documents, and manuals within brand guidelines and standards
What We’re Looking For
● 5+ years experience working in a specialty coffee (training or education experience preferred)
● Must have strong writing skills and high attention to detail
● Strong administrative skills
● Ability to work independently
● Excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to work in dynamic team environments
● Ability to travel within NYC and out of state
● Flexibility to work weekends, events, as needed
Physical Requirements
● Ability to travel within NYC and occasionally out of state
● Ability to lift 50 pounds
● Ability to stand and walk for 8+ hours a day
● Ability to bend, twist, and reach
Compensation
● $25/hour, plus benefits
Other Responsibilities
● Report any process or activity that puts the environment at risk due to inadequate management of water, energy, waste disposal and/or handling of chemical substances
● Sort waste correctly
● Save water and energy
● Report any activity that generates any environmental impact
● Actively participate in company training
● Support Management to respond to any environmental emergency
● Share ideas on how to be more sustainable through the Devoción mailbox and/or directly to the sustainability team
