About the Role:
We’re looking for a skilled and passionate Barista to join the LAOBRA Café team. This role requires someone with a deep love for specialty coffee, exceptional customer service skills, and a drive to deliver an unforgettable guest experience rooted in our philosophy of “Unreasonable Hospitality.” As a barista, you’ll play an integral role in creating a welcoming atmosphere while serving expertly crafted beverages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare a variety of coffee beverages, including espresso-based drinks, pour-overs, and batch brew, with precision and consistency.
- Dial in espresso and maintain consistent quality throughout shifts.
- Provide exceptional customer service by engaging warmly with guests, answering questions, and sharing knowledge about our coffee program.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including cleaning between drinks and during slower periods to uphold hygiene standards.
- Assist with daily café operations, including restocking inventory, setting up and breaking down the espresso bar, and participating in cleaning routines.
- Support events and pop-ups when needed, showcasing your coffee skills in a dynamic environment.
Ideal Candidate:
- 2+ years of experience as a barista in specialty coffee.
- Strong knowledge of coffee brewing techniques, espresso extraction, and latte art.
- Passionate about coffee and eager to share knowledge with guests and teammates.
- Excellent communication skills and a warm, engaging personality.
- Able to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- A proactive team player with a positive attitude and commitment to cleanliness and organization.
- NY Food Handler License
Schedule:
- Flexible part-time schedule, with weekend availability required.
Compensation:
$22-$24 per hour (depending on experience) + tips
