Chalait is a neighborhood café serving up our signature line of matcha green tea beverages, specialty coffee and teas as well as light breakfast and lunch options. Chalait is currently recruiting for an experienced barista to join our team on a full-time basis. We are looking for outgoing individuals with great customer service skills who are passionate about coffee, tea and food.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– Supervision, staff management & training on shift
– Set the standard for the coffee program – dial in coffee using various brewing methods daily
– Problem solve and calibrating the espresso machine
– Assist with weekly ordering and stay organized and responsible as the inventory manager
– Weekly FOH staffing schedule
– Preparation and presentation of beverages and information, operational procedures, merchandising
– Outstanding customer service. Handle customer complaints with professionalism and tact

Qualifications:
– Minimum 2+ years of barista experience plus previous managerial experience
– Exceptional communication and hospitality skills
– Ability to take initiative and problem solve
– Team oriented with great interpersonal skills
– High school diploma
– Available on weekends and holidays
– NYC Food Safety Handlers Certificate
